The Estée Edit Makeup VoxBox

I got my newest Influenster VoxBox in the mail and it was filled with some fun goodies from Estée Edit. Here’s what I got:

Included were:

To start from the top — the Eye Kajal. Here’s a swatch on my wrist:

This stuff is smooth and creamy, and goes on like buttah. It’s made to give a smudgy, “slept-in” look, and this stuff smudges like nobody’s business. On top of that, it’s super waterproof. I went to wash this off with soap and water and it took over a day to wear off. So…going for that “slept-in” look should be easy to attain, considering you actually can sleep in it. I really like both shades on this and am looking forward to using it more!

Next up, the Late Night Eraser. I like this stuff pretty well and it’s very light, which is nice. Although, as it stands, I’m still partial to my Arbonne Corrective Eye Creme, and it’d be pretty tough to get me to leave it.

The Mettalishadow Creme and Powder are not really my style, and feel way too dark for anything I’d use normally. Even going out, I’m not one to use eyeshadow much at all, so this is a little too much for me. To be honest, I’m completely intimidated by the shade.

Silver shiny stuff I can do. The black…not so much. I don’t really know what to do with this quite yet. Maybe I’ll get wild and save it for my bachelorette party.

And finally, the Radiance Activator is not what I expected. First off, it’s tan/beige in color. I expected it to be white. Secondly, it has, like…glitter in it. I put it on the back of my hand to test (my skin is ultra sensitive and will break out at the slightest inkling of a chemical it doesn’t like, so I always test there first). The smell is nice, kind of gentle and flowery. But it’s…sparkly. It’s not overkill, but I’m not sure I find it fair to say that a product makes you “glow” when in reality it’s putting tiny shinies all over you. Not really my speed.

Overall, the product I’m most thrilled with is the Eye Kajal (eyeliner, if ya nasty). It’s a definite keeper, and I would recommend it! My last bit of feedback on these is: the caps are mirror-y and show fingerprints like a mother. Not ideal for my OCD.

Quaker Cranberry Almond Breakfast Flats from Influenster

As part of my ongoing fun of testing out products with Influenster, I received some Quaker Breakfast Flats to try, Cranberry Almond flavor. Damon and I gave them a whirl this morning.

These are actually surprisingly good. I don’t really eat breakfast bars much because I feel like they waver somewhere between extremely sugary and hard as a rock/overly grainy. They also tend to give me heartburn, because I’m 100.

Anyhoo, these are pretty good. The cranberry adds sweetness without a ton of sugar or icing, and the rest of it doesn’t taste like cardboard. And the texture is kind of like a hard cookie, so my teeth remained intact.

If it’s any indication, I had a couple bites to test, then set the rest down in the kitchen. Damon complained he thought they left a weird aftertaste, but then finished the rest of them (sans the piece he dropped on the floor accidentally and Honey ate — I’d ask her for her opinion of them, but she’s pretty non-discriminatory when it comes to people food). So, I’d say if you’re looking for a snack of some sort these are definitely worth a try.

Thanks for the free food, Influenster and Quaker!

Influenster – SpiceVoxBox & Honeywell Humidifier

Influenster Spice VoxBox Review

I’m a member of a pretty cool site called Influenster. Their basic premise is that they give you free samples of cool products to try in exchange for you talking about the products on your blog and/or social media accounts. If you’re interested, sign up here.

This month, I got some pretty awesome stuff. I first received the Honeywell Removable Top Fill Console Humidifier, which was awesome because the old humidifier we had in our bedroom was nearly at the end of its life. And in Chicago, you can’t really survive a winter without a humidifier. (Okay, you can, but you don’t want to. Ask five-years-ago me that had a sinus infection for four months. Actually, don’t. She’ll cough all over you.)

Here’s a picture of the guy we got:

You’ll notice it’s situated on a towel. That’s because, for some reason, it leaks from time to time. We’ve had this issue with every humidifier we’ve ever had. Not sure if it’s because we’re overfilling it or what. We really like humid air.

That being said, this thing is great. It shuts itself off when it’s empty (unlike the Vornado one we had before that ran forever until it was making horrible sounds as it tried to humidify our bedroom with dry air and dog hair). The two tanks on the side are huge, so it feels like it lasts a good long while anyway. We just fill it up at night before bed and it’s still running in the morning when we leave the house.

Overall, we are really digging it. I’d recommend it.

The second goody I received is the SpiceVoxBox. Here’s a shot of its contents:

It includes:

The Good Health Veggie Straws were the first to go. Damon is the salty snack-meister in our household and was on them right away. He saved me some, though! And they were pretty dang good.

Beauty products are a little tougher to get me on — I’ve got some staples which I’ll discuss at a later date. I’ve not sampled any of these yet. Looking forward to the Foot Petals next time I wear real shoes. I’ve been off work for 11 days and I mean, why put on real clothes when you don’t have to?

Finally, the Yogi Tea. I love tea. I’ve got a growing collection of weird mugs solely for tea-ing purposes. Coffee is too bitter for me and besides, tea is fancier and oh-so-British.

Result: DELISH.

“Let things come to you.” Okay Yogi Tea, if you insist.
